Maribê Barros

Founder and Creative Director
Studio Lombra

Maribê is the Founder and Creative Director of Studio Lombra, a Black women-led design studio based in Brazil. Her multidisciplinary practice spans graphic design, illustration, collage, lettering, and surface design, often exploring themes of identity, activism, and emotional expression through vibrant visual narratives.

She has collaborated with brands such as YouTube, Mídia Ninja and Lojas Renner, for which she also designed an exclusive collection. In 2024, her work was honored with two Latin American Design Awards, featured in the Brazilian Design Biennial, and shortlisted for the Brazilian Design Award (BDA).

In addition to her creative practice, she has served as a juror for the Brasil Design Award and the Young Talents Latin Design Awards. She frequently speaks at conferences and cultural institutions such as the Museum of Tomorrow (Museu do Amanhã), World Creativity Day, KUYA (Ceará Design Center), Federal Universities, and has been featured on podcasts like CRIAR (Aprender Design/SP) and Brazilian Podcast (UK).

Her work combines elements of urban art and pop culture with a bold, distinctive visual language that asserts presence and creates space for new imaginaries. At the core of her practice is a belief in the transformative power of art grounded in authenticity and cultural resonance.
